![]() ![]() Like any technology, you must fiddle with it and, through trial and error, find out what works and what doesn’t. First, you cannot learn about EMS without holding a device in your own hands. You may face two obstacles to making the best use of EMS for athlete performance and health. With just a little knowledge, you can help your athletes make big improvements. Many coaches and trainers have purchased EMS devices but have not yet integrated the technology into their regular day-to-day routine. However, professionals in all sports-particularly at upper levels-do not fully understand the applications and benefits of EMS technology. The best minds in sports performance all agree that EMS is a valuable tool, particularly at the highest levels of performance. only with less bleeding and less swelling and less nausea because of this better and preferred anesthesia method. All training programs should integrate Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) to contract muscles forcefully. I still do the same big facelift with all the muscle work, bells and whistle I always have. You can look under ever rock, in ever nook and cranny, but it is wishful thinking and a waste of money to do anything else for sagging skin than a good facelift.I try to make this easy by doing all my facelifts with oral sedation and local anesthesia injections in my certified office operating room to cut back on your costs and to provide a super safe and easier experience. For this you need a facelift and or some fillers to enhance the end result. If you had a neuromuscular disease or a stroke or some other real pathology effecting your muscle tension than the electrical stimulation might have a place. You are exercising your facial muscles all day everyday just by talking, chewing, smiling, and all else you do while awake. The dynamics of age related facial skin laxity have very little to with muscle tone which is what would be effected by electrical stimulation. Instead, we focus on manipulation of deeper muscles and fat, to artistically improve the jawline, contour the neck and eliminate sagging jowls.Īnother benefit of the modern facelift technique I use in Minneapolis is that it respects the evolving theory of facial aging by not only “lifting” tissues but also “filling” the areas that have lost volume with the careful use of small amounts of fat injections (this is a form of natural “filler” using liposuction). The use of your own fat as a natural filler allows me to put the final touches and optimize your facial rejuvenation outcome. My modern quick-recovery facelift delivers natural results because it does not rely on simply tightening the skin, which can create a pulled and unnatural result. When you seek a qualified surgeon, you can be fairly confident that the surgery will deliver a predictable, durable result with a fairly easy recovery. There is also NO GUARANTEE when seeking these expensive repetitive treatments. In fact, even though I am not a fan of these technolgoies, there are other non-surgical options such as ultrasound, radiofrequency, and laser energies which have been shown to be at least somewhat effective. There isnt an iota of scientific evidence to support this device. Things may change as technology evolves.Ī microcurrent electrical facial is a gimmick that delivers gentle electric stimulation to the face in an attempt to tone the face. ![]() These "technologies" are usually unpredictable and inferior to a facelift. Unfortunately, I have found very few to be as impressive as the gold-standard facelift. It's almost hard to keep up with all the "Ground Breaking" technologies that are released so often. I would recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with a plastic surgeon to allow for a thorough physical examination and to make more specific recommendation to achieve the natural look you desire. However, non-surgical treatments are never as effective as a facelift in producing dramatic rejuvenating effects. ![]() ![]() These non-surgical options do produce visible improvement and are good options in patients with minimal signs of facial aging with less downtime than surgery. There are other non-surgical options such as ultrasound, radiofrequency, and laser energies that are much more proven in studies to be effective. Facial exercises also do not work in this regard in fact, facial muscle movement is actually what causes wrinkles overtime through repetitive folding of the skin in the same places. Electric stimulation certainly will not remove loose skin. However, there is little to no scientific evidence supporting its effectiveness. Gentle electric stimulation of the facial muscles and tissues (microcurrent) has been attempted in an effort to tone and rejuvenate the face. ![]()
